April 16, 2014 (evening)

On Holy Wednesday evening, the parish of St. George celebrated the fourth Bridegroom Service of Holy Week, the Matins for Holy Thursday. Following the service, the faithful in attendance were anointed with the Evchelaion (Unction Oil) consecrated in the afternoon service.

April 16, 2014 (afternoon)

On Holy Wednesday afternoon, the parish of St. George celebrated the sacrament of Evchelaion (Holy Unction), in the traditional observance of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America for Holy Wednesday.

April 15, 2014 (evening)

On Holy Tuesday evening, during the third Bridegroom Service of Holy Week, the St. George choir sang the beloved Hymn of Kassiani.

April 13, 2014 (evening)

On Palm Sunday evening, the icon of the Nymphios (Christ the Bridegroom) was processed through the Church and placed on the solea, as the St. George parish celebrated the first Bridegroom Service of Holy Week.

April 13, 2014 (morning)

On Palm Sunday, the young people of the Church School, together with the Altar Boys, took up branches of the bay laurel tree and palm leaves and processed through the Church in celebration of the Lord's entry into Jerusalem, after which Fr. Anthony blessed the palm crosses made the day before, and distributed them to all the people.

April 12, 2014

On the Saturday of Lazarus, April 12th, 2014, the young people of the GOYA, the Church School, the Greek School, and the parish at large, together with their parents, grandparents, godparents, and other relatives, together with the St. George Ladies Philoptochos, gathered to prepare the palm crosses and bay leaves for Palm Sunday and Holy Saturday. April 5-6, 2014

On April 5th & 6th, the St. George community participated in the celebration of Greek Independence Day surrounding the Greek Independence Day parade and the Hellenic Heritage Awards. St. George parishioner Chris Kontos was one of the Hellenic Heritage honorees, and the St. George community turned out in force to honor him and to celebrate the liberation of Greece, the freedom we enjoy in the United States, and above all the freedom we are blessed to hold in Jesus Christ our Lord.

His Eminence Metropolitan Nicholas of Detroit once again visited the parish of St. George on April 4th, 2014, for the final Salutations Service (Akathist Hymn) of Great Lent, in Fr. Anthony's unexpected absence for a family funeral.

His Eminence Metropolitan Nicholas of Detroit again visited the parish of St. George on Sunday, March 9th, the Sunday of Orthodoxy, together with the newly ordained Deacon Alexandru Radulescu. His Eminence also led the procession of the Icons in celebration of the Sunday of Orthodoxy.

His Eminence Metropolitan Nicholas of Detroit honored the parish of St. George with a pastoral visitation on Sunday, January 19th. His Eminence presided at the Divine Liturgy, and then joined the community for the annual Vasilopita Luncheon, concluding with the cutting and distribution of the Vasilopita.
