On this date we continued our course of study of the Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom, together with the preparations which must precede it. We discussed the first several prayers of the service of Kairos, the Priest's prayer before vesting. We discussed in depth the various prayers which comprise this service, together with their background, their meaning, and their more general significance.

February 8, 2014

On this date we began a new course of study of the Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom, together with the preparations which must precede it. We began by looking at the instructions given to the priest in the Ieratikon. Among the topics discussed were the relationship between the clergy and the people and the appropriate manner in which to conduct the divine services.

Bible Study Segment - Gospel of John, Chapters 1-3

On this date we continued our study of the Gospel of John with a discussion of the second half of John 3. Prominent in this week's discussion was the Lord's Incarnation, the wedding supper of the Lamb of God, and various matters related to our salvation.

January 18, 2014

On this date we continued our study of the Gospel of John with a discussion of the first half of John 3. Prominent in this week's discussion was the question of humility, relationship with Christ, baptism, and salvation.

January 11, 2014

On this date we continued our study of the Gospel of John with a discussion of the second half of John 2. Prominent in this week's discussion was the question of animal sacrifice and its relation to Christ's Passion.

December 14, 2013

On this date we continued our study of the Gospel of John with a discussion of the first half of John 2. The discussion centered prominently on the subject of marriage in the text, and the Orthodox understanding of this sacrament.

November 23 & December 7, 2013

On these dates we began our study of the Gospel of John, covering the introduction and Chapter 1. The conversation included a general philosophical and historical background of the Gospel, with an in depth examination of the import of the text.
